Transformation for the Future: Our Steps Towards Sustainability

Sustainability is not just a business strategy for SAYTEK; it is also a legacy to be passed on to future generations.

As part of its sustainability efforts, SAYTEK focuses on green circularity, carbon emission reduction, and resource conservation in line with the Paris Agreement targets.

To document its carbon reduction impact and create economic value, the company initiated the VERRA certification process in 2022 and completed the listing phase in 2024. Under this certification, the annual carbon emission reduction target is set at 16,573 tCO₂, with a total expected reduction of 116,011 tCO₂ over a seven-year crediting period. These credits will be issued and priced according to market value following verification periods.

In the recycling facilities in Düzce, wastewater is treated, and factory emissions are filtered, contributing to environmental protection. Meanwhile, the medical production facility in Ankara maintains a neutral carbon footprint, as it does not involve chimney emissions or water consumption in its production processes.

SAYTEK's recycling initiatives not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also provide a strategic advantage in light of the "Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism," set to take effect in 2026, and the anticipated increase in carbon taxes in the coming years.

Regulations are expected to significantly increase the demand for recycled plastic. SAYTEK is proactively aligning with the EU’s mandates, which require 25% recycled raw material usage in plastic packaging by 2025 and 30% by 2030.

Furthermore, the new facility in Kulu/Konya, scheduled to commence operations in Q4 2026, aims to source a significant portion of its energy from renewable sources, supported by investments in solar power plants. Through these initiatives, SAYTEK not only enhances its environmental responsibility but also strengthens its position within the industry.

Verra

The "Verified Carbon Standard" (VCS) program, managed by Verra, issues "Verified Carbon Units" (VCUs) as carbon credits. Each VCU represents one metric ton of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) reduced or removed by a project. VCS ensures that all projects undergo rigorous validation and verification processes to meet high-quality standards.

VCUs can be purchased by companies or organizations seeking to offset their carbon emissions. Additionally, projects that provide social and biodiversity benefits can obtain certifications that enhance the value of these credits.
